Unit 1- Print, Itten's Subjective Colour Test
'Colours are forces, radiant energies that affect us positively or negatively, whether we are aware of it or not'- Itten, 1970.
Johannes Itten was a pioneer for colour theory. He introduced the idea that colour can indicate emotion and so added a psychoanalytical viewpoint on the theory of colour. Here is my notes on an article.
I decided to take part in the 'season' experiment and these were the colour palettes I created:

| Top left: autumn, top right: winter, bottom left: summer, bottom right: spring. |
I then took a quiz to identify my 'subjective seasonal colour' and found out that autumn is my primary colour palette and summer is my secondary colour palette. This has made me consider the colours I regularly come back to when making decisions and creating art. As suggested by Itten, I must get used to using my subjective colours in order to be more successful.
When observing my previous work such as my personality prints, I can see that I've used a summer colour palette; warm, saturated and active. This shows my innate likeness to this palette- as hypothesised by Itten.
