Unit 1- 'What Are You Like?' Refined pieces

These are a selection of my favourite outcomes from this brief. I aimed to experiment with a range of visual possibilities regarding my ideas. I used digital, magazines and texture to enable this experimentation.

This was my digital interpretation. I created the poster using typography letters I found around my house. The window is the view into my garden and the shoes and jeans are my own- I feel this makes it a very personal piece.

I decided to use repeat the rose background I used in my previous post. This was inspired by Lauren Childs' technique of creating a repeat pattern on a small scale and projecting it into her illustrations. I admire the way this looks and decided to replicate it and I feel it makes it look more cohesive and realistic, which ultimately provides unity. This was a principle I was aiming for.

The background for this was created using an online repeat pattern generate (https://repper.app).

I then decided to experiment with making it into a physical pieces and illustrating with my own hands. This first piece uses a range of textures found around my house. The window view is constructed with dried flowers from my garden and the wallpaper is a silver metallic card. The poster is a cut out from a newspaper. I used a sharpie to illustrate.

I cut out wallpaper samples in the back of an Elle Decoration magazine to fashion the wallpaper. I cut out sections of clouds I could find in the magazine to create a window view.
