Unit 1- 'What Are You Like?' Digital experimentation

 To further my idea of composing a collage that responds to the prompts as a collective, I decided to create a visual of this.

I used 'Pages'- a software on Apple Mac- to do this. I enjoyed experimenting digitally and observing the tools available to me and how they can change the way a piece looks entirely. I favour the way working digitally can allow you room to make mistakes and experiment endlessly. This has allowed me to examine the effect using different pictures and materials can have.

These are a documentation of how I experimented with the composition of a wall, poster and window. I plan on developing g this visual further by drawing illustrations over the top.

To prepare my skills for illustrating over the top of these compositions, I practised with the drawing tool in both Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. I used a variety of brush strokes and observed which were the most appropriate.
These are some examples of what the illustrations will look like over the top.

Unit 1- Working with Clay to Explore Shape and Space

With my quick workshop in clay, I wanted to explore the elements of shape and space. I chose to do some sketching following on from the shapes I created in my previous workshop and the artist research I had done.  I took inspiration from the 'squiggle' shape that keeps coming up in the research. I looked at the folds within Bernin's sculptures and wanted to experiment with making that on a more refined scale. My first attempt was unstructured and broke as the cat was in a plastic state. To solve this, I used a leather hard coat and cut out full circles of a larger width and layered these with slip. To develop this concept further, I would like to experiment with scale and how this can impact the appearance of shape and space.

Final outcome- FMP

 Details of final outcome: Outcome in-situ: Outcome in gallery setting: I feel fulfilled by the outcome I produced. It reflects the effort I put in over my FMP into research, learning new skills and also personal development. It is an artists' book called 'An Ode to the Moon' and is a testament to the enormous range of perspectives we have on the moon. For me, this project has been an enlightening journey on how the world can have so many different viewpoints on the same thing. It has been a personal journey for me and I feel this book is evidence of this. I can't wait to show this book to friends and family. I already have some orders in from people that would like one for themselves- which is ultimately the goal of my project (to share alternative perspectives through allowing ownership and personal connection to my work.)
