Unit 1- Print, Matisse Cutouts Workshop

During my print workshop, I took inspiration from Matisse's cutouts and cut out one of my continuous line drawings. The colours I chose were mainly based on Andreas Lie's natural art and the colour palette he uses. I chose to take inspiration from this as I feel nature has been an important contributor to who I am as a person. The arrangement of the colours coincidentally resulted in a visual that somewhat represents a mountain amongst sea and ground, although I was intending on this being an abstract piece. I could take this cutout further by adding motifs over the top of it, much like Matisse, perhaps some triangles to add unity and balance.
