Unit 1- Periodic Artist Research

I decided to research 3 artists from both the modern and impressionist era. This has enriched my references in my projects as I’m inspired by current aswell as historical artists. In order to inform my research further I watched the artists interviews on YouTube. I found this enabled me to fully grasp their creative process. I was also conscious of identifying the key elements and processes they used in their work. 

This was my research into Fernando Botero, an artist working in the Modern period. I adore his work and find his style extremely inspiring. As shown in the picture, I analysed the composition and colours used within his piece ‘The Musicians’.

I then looked into the work of Wassily Kandinsky, whom worked in the post-Impressionism era. I recognise the influence on other artists work due to his contribution to the Bauhaus movement. This is a concept I’d like to experiment with in my work. 

Finally, I felt compelled to analyse the work of David LaChapelle- of which is a modern artist. I admire his vision and the way he composed his pieces. I found his creative process fascinating after watching his interview with VICE.
